Elephant Run day one review :)

Note to the reader: I also summarize the pages that I have read, so if you don't like hearing spoilers than you won't want to hear my daily reviews! I also do reviews on the entire book if you are interested!

The Elephant Run Pages 2-19
I have read the first few pages of Elephant Run, and I am impressed by the author’s choice of words and style of writing. Elephant Run takes place in the 19 hundreds, and is about a boy named Nick and revolves around the time of the holocaust. These first two chapters, Nick has left his father and goes to live in a “safer” environment, but they never return. His mother is always sure to come up with good excuses and, in the end, she divorces and remarries. Fortunately, this does not stop Nick from still contacting his father. He dreams of one day taking over the Elephant family business, and is fascinated by the creatures. In the first chapter, it shows a hint of his mother not wanting him to choose this as his career, but I don’t think he notices. I think that he will end up owning the Elephant business…It seems to me that Elephants are his passion. While reading this chapter, I thought of how I would be handling it if my parents divorced, and I could only keep in contact with my dad through mail. It would be pretty sad, but it seems that Nick is handling it well. He seems to never be discouraged by the fact that he is no longer living with his real dad, and never shows any emotions. I am especially surprised that he didn’t break out when his father didn’t meet him where they were supposed to meet.
I am a little confused on what goes on in the last chapter I read, chapter 2. I understand that he expected his father to meet him where he was going…what I don’t understand is where he was. I know that he now lives in London with his Mother and step father, but it talks about someone (I don’t remember the name) driving him to a village. They stop, I don’t remember for what, and then they start a conversation with the people there, and it seems as if he knows them, but they are in a Village. I don’t know if they are still living in London, but I was under the impression that they were. I am pretty comfortable reading this text, but sometimes, I think the author goes off topic, and everything happens very quickly.
Seeing what has happened so far, I am eager to find out what really kept Nick`s father from meeting him. I think that in the next few chapters, Nick will find out who is responsible for his dad`s absence. Right now, he does not seem to be bothered by it, but I think that his dad will fail to be present the next couple of days, and Nick will notice that something is not quite right. I think that the absence of his father will lead to an adventure of Nick to find him. Hopefully at the end of the book, they will be reunited and their relationship will continue to cultivate.

-I'll be sure to post more tomorrow! Stay tuned! Feed back apreciated! If there is any book you want me to do a daily review/summarize let me know! :)
